Up North Pride 2017
Our 2017 theme, All Together Now, reaffirms Up North Pride’s guiding principle that there’s only one way through these times... and that’s together. Our Grand Marshal, Scott Turner Schofield, is an Internationally-known Transgender Educator as well as Daytime Television’s 1st Transgender Actor (Bold and the Beautiful, 2016).
We hosted 9 events and welcome over 5000 people during the week.
Up North Pride 2016
Television host and Traverse City resident Carter Oosterhouse and his wife, actress Amy Smart will serve as grand marshals of the third annual Up North Pride March on June 25.
Presented by The Michael Chetcuti Foundation, Up North Pride Week included 14 events include our signature event,the Up North Pride March. The march - which winds through downtown Traverse City starting at The Little Fleet and ending at Rare Bird Brew Pub is the culmination of the week-long Up North Pride Week June 19-25. The week will feature many free and family-friendly activities.
Up North Pride 2015
Up North Pride and The Michael Chetcuti Foundation presented Up North Pride Week 2016 starting June 22 and leading up to a Visibility Stroll and Pride Celebration on June 27 at noon. Marriage equality is announced on the eve of our 2nd annual visbility march.
Pride Week was led by four very special Grand Marshals: Mario Batali and his wife Susi Cahn, seasonally of Northern Michigan, will kick off the Saturday Visibility Stroll alongside Michael Chetcuti and his partner Kyle Evans. Batali is a world-renowned chef, writer, and restaurateur. Both Batali and Cahn are out-spoken LGBT allies as well as lovers of Northern Michigan. Chetcuti is CEO of Quality Metalcraft in Detroit and is a job creator in a variety of industries across Michigan. Evans is an automotive and industrial designer known for his love of automotive design in particular. Both are seasonally in Detroit and Leelanau County.
