“Why is Pride Week in September?”

Up North Pride had our first September Pride Week in 2021. This came out of necessity, following our inability to plan a Pride during 2020. We realized that we LOVE Pride Week in September for so many reasons.
-A lot of our board, staff, and vendors have more availability for planning outside of the summer months.
-We already do a BUNCH of events in June (18 this year!)
-Larger cities have their pride events during weekends in June and we think it’s a great thing to support those larger events and celebrate our Pride Week during the shoulder season of late September.

“Why are some things different this year?”

Most of our events do vary year to year. While some elements come back time and time again, other things differ due to cost, availability, community or board feedback, org capacity, or other obstacles outside of our control. We also aim to change as the needs of our community do.

We know that Up North Pride has had and will have many eras and we just hope to experience them all together!
