Our Leadership Team
WE ARE A COLLECTIVE OF lgbtQ+ humans & Allies looking to build a more inclusive and welcoming Northern Michigan.
We come from several walks of life. Near and far. Our aim with every event is to educate, celebrate and advocate. From humble beginnings to the largest Pride March in Michigan, we’ve been fortunate to find great people to take leadership roles and embrace the Up North Pride mission.
Jonny cameron | they/them
Chair & Founder
In 2014, Jonny and their partner, Elon, gathered a group of community members to discuss the need to represent and celebrate the queer community in Northern Michigan. In the 5 years since the original march, Up North Pride has grown to be the largest participant-driven LGBT Pride March in Michigan as well as a leader in Northern Michigan’s LGBT advocacy. Jonny’s lifelong interest in being an observer of human behavior attitudes and beliefs allows them to drive meaningful marketing and communication strategies. Jonny is often accused of getting a little too “spread-sheety” at dinner parties.
