Turning to the Body: Embodying Our Commitments in the new year
The world has a lot to say about what we should commit to or focus on. There’s a lot of input, noise and pressure - what would it be like to feel a sense of agency and clarity in your own commitment setting? And then be in concrete tangible action around making that commitment come to life or fruition through your body.
This 3-hr workshop offers somatic practices to feel for and practice embodying our commitments. The world has a lot to say about what we should commit to or focus on. There’s a lot of input, noise and pressure - what would it be like to feel a sense of agency and clarity in your own commitment setting?
Come find out!

Universal Unitarian Congregation: TC to TC Care Package Project
The SEED (Spiritual Ethical Exploration and Development) program at UUCGT will be putting together care packages for kids and caregivers in the Twin Cities area, including art supplies, games, and self care items. The increased ICE presence and escalated tensions in Minneapolis and St. Paul have disrupted life for so many people, and we have connected with a group that is providing childcare and other resources for families in need.
Please check out the Sign Up Genius link for a list of needed items and register for whatever you are able to donate. These items will be used in the childcare program and also distributed to families for use at home. Donations can be dropped off at UUCGT (6726 Center Rd.) during office hours, Mon. through Thurs. 9:30-3:30, or left in the labeled boxes in the entryway outside of those hours. You can also bring them to the Up North Pride Community Center (314 Eighth St.) on Thusday, January 29th at 6:30pm. We will be packing boxes and writing more notes to the people on the ground in the Twin Cities that evening.

Phone Banking for Equality
Join Our Weekly Equality Phone Banks! Every week, EQMI will be hosting phone banks to connect with voters across districts all over the state, identifying and mobilizing Equality Voters who care about fairness, inclusion, and justice for all.
These phone banks are one of the most effective ways to build real momentum heading into next year’s midterm elections. By having direct conversations with voters, we’re not only helping people get engaged early, we’re also gathering critical information that will guide our strategy for the months ahead.
The data we collect now helps us understand which areas are energized, where we need to focus more outreach, and how to tailor our message to meet voters where they are. This groundwork will be essential as we ramp up organizing and voter mobilization efforts in the spring for the midterm elections.
Whether you’re a seasoned volunteer or brand new to phone banking, we’ll provide all the training and tools you need. Every call makes a difference and every volunteer helps build the foundation for equality and progress in the next election. What to bring: Please bring a laptop, phone, and headphones to each phone bank.
We’ll provide all the training, scripts, and support you need to feel confident making calls. If you can’t join us in person, no problem! We can set up a one-on-one training session at a time that works best for you so you can make calls from home at your own convenience.
Just email acherry@equalitymi.org to set up one-on-one training. Every volunteer, every call, and every conversation helps strengthen our movement for equality and progress. Join us weekly and help us make a difference, one call at a time!

Romance Writing with the National Writers Series and Intimi
Write this way…. to romance. Celebrate Valentine’s Day with the National Writers Series in collaboration with Intimi. You, your instructor Audrey Irontree, and a handful of alluring strangers will meet at Intimi and figure out what makes romance stories tick, or pulse, or flutter. We’ll craft high stakes, build tension, and do our best to make eachother blush. We’ll look at examples of published work, classic heart-throbs and contemporary pieces alike, and then write our own romance stories, inspired, perhaps, by an included glass of champagne (NA option available, of course) and aphrodisiac bonbons. Bring something to write with, wear cute and cozy pjs, and get ready dish about your (fictional) crushes.
This 18+ class is open to all genders, writers of all experience levels, and romances between folks of all types.
The fee for this class is donated back to our education program, keeping our youth classes free, always, for every child who participates. If you want to take the class and the cost is a hardship, please email education@nwstc.org for accommodations. If you want to be there, we’ll make it happen!

This event is much more than just a run or walk. It is a celebration of love, acceptance, and belonging, and an opportunity for the 2SLGBTQ+ community and their allies to come together and show their pride. It is a chance to raise awareness and support for the 2SLGBTQ+ community and to promote equality and inclusion in northern Michigan.
